“The intense fascination for the future revealed by certain past works is reciprocated by the equally intense appeal that these past works have for contemporary artists,” say the exhibition’s organizers.
The artworks belong to a unique genre of retrofuturism, which explores the past artists’ ideas of the future. The naïve visionaries could hardly imagine that decades later their descendants would admire their audacity and try to recreate their dreams through art.
The exhibit will be hosted by Galerie du Jour Agnès B. from April 4 to May 4, 2012.
