Masks by Bob Basset are featured in the U.S. TV channel TNT’s project “Survival Is an Art: The Last Ship Experience,” launched as part of the ongoing promotion of their series The Last Ship.
The project brought together the worlds of fashion and entertainment. The stylish gathering in New York City, attended by series stars Eric Dane and Rhona Mitra and executive producer Hank Steinberg, included a display of works by Munich-based designer Irene Luft and a gallery exhibition of original gas masks by different artists; apart from the five Bob Basset creations, there were mask by Tom Banwell, Singer Blake, Wren Britton, Gary Lockwood, and Nathan Vincent.
In The Last Ship, a global epidemic has killed over eighty percent of the world’s population. The survivors are few and far between, but among them is the crew of U.S.S. Nathan James, a Navy destroyer. The ship’s captain (played by Eric Dane) and a microbiologist (Rhona Mitra) must find a way to destroy the virus among the perilous post-apocalyptic ruins.
The Bob Basset masks follow the overall post-apocalyptic tone of the series.
“We were invited to take part in the show as contemporary post-apocalyptic artists, which fit the overall theme of the series,” says Bob Basset cofounder Serhii Petrov.
