On October 14, 2015, at Ukrainian Fashion Week Bob Basset presented ΣΑΛΩΜΗΣ, a new collection of mask bags named after the legendary Biblical Salome, who asked for and received John the Baptist’s head.

The collection comprises five so-called mask bags, which can serve as either. Their twin purpose also echoes the story of Salome. Stepdaughter to King Herod, she enchanted him so much with her feminine dancing that he vowed to grant her any wish. At her mother’s bidding, Salome asked for the prophet’s head.

“Basically, each item in the collection is both a mask and a bag in the form of a head that can be given away as a present. It’s a kind of forbidden, morally ambiguous self-indulgence,” says Bob Basset cofounder Serhii Petrov.

It was at the 2014 Ukrainian Fashion Week that the studio presented their first collection, Mashrabiya.
